I love travelling and have learned a lot from my trips. Seeing the powers of Velazquez’s ‘Pope Innocent X’; the sheen of the material, the apparent movement in the subject’s hand. The beautiful stillness and light in Vermeer’s'Woman Reading A Letter’ the humour and cinematic quality of Hopper’s ‘Soir Bleu’ in person has affected not only my passion, but the way in which I treat my subjects.

I paint people from film and modern culture as well as people I know. If they fit into the scene I’m trying to create, then I cast them. The landscapes may change in my work, but it’s the emotion underneath tha’s important to me.

Painting is the most important thing in my life.I paint every day, and I exhibit regularly in local galleries and have also had great success when I exhibited in London and Dublin.
