Maggie Downer

I’m largely self-taught. I started out as an English teacher, having graduated from Glasgow University with MA Hons English Lit and Lang. Later my husband and I went to live in Brighton for some years, where I became an illustrator of children’s books. We came back to Glasgow in 1992 and my husband died in 1999 after a long illness. I finally got down to painting, attending several classes with DACE at Glasgow School of Art.
